The Wrong Paris
It is so fun to wind down in the evenings and enjoy a movie or binge a TV series. My daughter and I enjoyed watching “Wrong Paris”, a charming romantic comedy about an aspiring artist who needs to get to her new art school in Paris, France. She cannot afford the plane ticket to Europe so she signs up for a reality dating show that is set to be held in Paris. But like all good reality TV shows, there is a plot twist. The show is actually due to be filmed in Paris, Texas… not Paris, France. Of course, there is a gorgeous, kind, hilarious ‘cowboy bachelor’ that our heroine, Dawn, is drawn to.
“Wrong Paris” is a charming, feel good show with witty banter and sweet romance. This was a delightful watch because the story was sweet and the character of Trey was super handsome. If you enjoy watching reality tv this could be a show that you might enjoy. If you are interested in watching this, look for it on Netflix

Miss Austen
I am a fan of almost all of the offerings that fall in the Jane Austen stories. The show, "Miss Austen" is a beautifully crafted historical drama that offers a thoughtful exploration of family, legacy, and the burdens and blessings of love. As of writing this, it is slowly being released, but what I have seen so far, I really enjoy.
The series centers on Cassandra Austen (Keeley Hawes), moving between her somber later years and flashbacks to youthful days with her beloved sister, Jane Austen (Patsy Ferran). I really like that the show focuses on the complexities of unmarried womanhood in Regency England and the fierce devotion between sisters.
The show moves between the time of Cassandra and Jane as young women and Cassandra, later in life protecting the correspondence between the sisters and friends. As Cassandra is reviewing these letters she is forced to confront regret, grief, and the choices that shaped both their lives. Flashbacks reveal their encouragement of each other’s dreams and their struggles against societal pressures to marry for security versus happiness.
The show is beautifully filmed. The costumes, the settings, the homes are full of both raw and lush period detail, making it a very interesting show to watch. As I mentioned, I am only a few episodes in, as PBS is slowly re-showing each episode. But if you are anywhere like the anglophile that I am, you might really enjoy the beauty and the heartbreak of this beautiful show.

Nobody Wants This
Season 2 of "Nobody Wants This" was recently released on Netflix, and this is another one that I loved watching with my adult daughter. While some of the scenes are a bit contrived, I really didn’t care because as a whole I find the show witty and heartfelt.
“Nobody Wants This” is the unlikely romance between Joanne, an outspoken agnostic sex podcaster played by Kristen Bell, and Noah, a newly single, unconventional rabbi played by Adam Brody. Personally, I think that between the clever writing and the strong chemistry between the lead characters, this is a show that is high on our bingeable list.
If you have not seen season one, start with that and then move to season two. This is available to watch on Netflix.

Chad Powers
As a big sports fan and an even larger fan of Glen Powell, "Chad Powers" was an easy one to get into. “Chad Powers” is a sports comedy series that is centered on Russ Holliday, a once-promising quarterback whose college football career is destroyed by his own bad choices. The sports loving side of me had to be quiet during this movie because this was not a time to think about the impossibility of the story. If you can just enjoy a good laugh and let Glen Powell and all of his personality and good looks take you away, then this is a run show to watch. I didn’t realize at first, but this series is inspired by a real-life skit from football star, Eli Manning. It is football season and watching "Chad Powers” on Hulu is just a good time.

Severence
"Severance" is a psychological thriller that our whole family is watching. It is a science fiction series that follows employees at Lumon Industries, a company where a surgical procedure called "severance" splits workers' memories between office and personal lives. This is an interesting watch because everyone in the family finds this interesting to watch. This is a very different type of show from the other ones listed, but interesting to watch, all the same. The story focuses on themes of finding out unsettling truths, while asking questions of free will, identity, and work. "Severance" is acclaimed for its unique premise and compelling performances, and you can watch it exclusively on Apple TV+.

Virgin River
Virgin River is a show on Netflix that I have enjoyed over several years. I liked it so much I introduced it to my 80+ year old father. Virgin River is a heartfelt drama following nurse practitioner Melinda "Mel" Monroe, who relocates from Los Angeles to the small and remote town of Virgin River in Northern California. The character of Mel is seeking a fresh start and healing from personal tragedies. As she becomes entwined in the lives of the townspeople, Mel finds both new challenges and the possibility of romance, especially with bar owner Jack Sheridan. The series is known for its scenic setting, emotional depth, and character-driven storytelling. If you are looking for a sweet, sometimes dramatic, sweet series that is set in a beautiful setting, check out Virgin River.

Fleabag
My adult daughter and I watched the show called, “Fleabag” on Amazon Prime. There are adult themes in this show, and it might have been a bit embarrassing to watch this show with my sons in the room.
But what else would you expect with a sharply witty British series? “Fleabag” was created and written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and the show follows a chaotic, dry-witted woman as she navigates love, grief, and family drama in London.
An interesting show, for how it breaks the fourth wall plus its dark, poignant humor. This show explores the protagonist's complex relationships, lingering guilt over a friend's death, and her often rebellious approach to life's challenges. I enjoyed this show, but I would not recommend this show to a mixed group audience.

Red Oaks
Although new to me, "Red Oaks" is a series from 2014 that can be found on Prime Video. “Red Oaks” caught my attention because of the tennis themes that are in the story, and I do love a tennis element in a story. “Red Oaks” is a nostalgic coming-of-age comedy set in the summer of 1985. The story follows college student David Myers as he takes a job as an assistant tennis pro at the Red Oaks Country Club in New Jersey. This series is celebrated for its 1980s setting, lighthearted tone, and mix of laughs and honest moments about growing up and finding one's path. I really liked finding this fun series from over a decade ago.
As the leaves change and cozy evenings set in, fall is the perfect time to dive into a new series or rediscover old favorites. Whether you’re in the mood for something comforting, dramatic, or brand new, there’s plenty on this list to keep you entertained all season long. If you found your next binge-worthy show here or have a favorite to add, I’d love to hear from you!
