There are cookie recipes, and then there are cookie legends. Christian’s Chocolate Chip Cookies belong to the latter. Over 20 years ago, my brother-in-law Christian brought these cookies to a family gathering — and from that day on, they became the cookie. I’ve been making them ever since, and I’m convinced no cookie compares to them. (Sorry, Crumbl — these truly win every time!)
This recipe is a double batch on purpose. When you make them once, you’ll understand why. I love rolling leftover dough into balls and freezing them — they bake beautifully straight from frozen. Imagine this: warm, gooey, chocolate chip cookies on demand, ready as soon as your oven preheats. Trust me, it’s one of life’s sweeter little luxuries.
Tips and Tricks
A few tricks for perfect cookies every time
Even though Christian’s recipe is close to perfection, a few little tweaks can take your cookies from great to bakery-level amazing:
- Bring your butter and eggs to room temperature. This helps them blend into a fluffy, creamy base that gives your dough the perfect texture before adding any of the dry ingredients.
- Scrape down the sides of your bowl often. It’s a simple step, but it ensures every bite has that ideal balance of butter, sugar, and chocolate chips.
